I was initially pissed that the series began with Schlafly. I vividly recall hating her in my teens. But Cate B. is riveting in the role and it's great seeing the cracks in her persona.
I hate so much when people talk about "likeable" and "rooting for" about fictional characters.

As infantile as voting for a politician for you think you'd like having a beer with them.
That's, for me, one of the major points of fiction, that you can explore the complexities of all sorts of characters, including unpleasant ones, without having real personal interactions, especially unpleasant ones, as you can without having to have real personal interactions.
