Thank you, thank you, thank you. You can imagine how my black, leftwing, lesbian ass is tired of this generational BS.

Sometimes I wish millennials would just take their boomer parents to therapy, yell at them, and leave the rest of the fucking world out of it.

I didn't know such as thing as the Copeland Rule existed, but thank God it does! I was also born in 1961, which according to most people makes me a late Boomer, but I've never felt as if I had very much in common with the people just a few years older than me--yes, I had fun w/disco and '70s pop, and remember when Led Zeppelin was an actual band (as opposed to several guys who reunite every once in a while), and saw the movie version of The Wall, *but* I was a teenager then, and a young child during the '60s, so I wasn't able to do the classic Boomer bits like protesting the war, screaming over the Beatles, and becoming a hippie for a while. I was in college in the early '80s, listening to all the New Wave bands (it took me a while to get into punk; oddly enough, my musical taste has gotten harder with age, not softer), going to clubs and doing things like moving to the town where my favorite band lived (you can only do that kind of think when you're young and foolish, trust me), and worrying about AIDS and Reagan having the bomb, etc. etc. etc., so that's when I feel as if I "came of age." I had just turned 30 when "Smells Like Teen Spirit" broke through, which is still young enough to be running around to shows, trying to be a concert photographer, and all the other wacky things I did during the '90s. At this point, I usually just say I'm on the Boomer/GenX cusp, and let other people figure it out. (If you want to get astrological about it, astrologer Debbi Kempton-Smith believes that the true boomers were born when Pluto was in Leo, from about 1937 to 1957, which would make GenX the Pluto in Virgo generation, from 1957 to 1971, and probably part of Pluto in Libra after that. Makes as much sense to me as anything else, eh?)
